Walkthrough
- 1
Introduction and Team Formation
10 minThe facilitator begins by explaining the purpose of the workshop: to create an innovative product to solve a problem related to conference calls. They then divide the participants into teams of 4 to 5 people. 'Your mission is to design a solution that will make conference calls more effective and enjoyable.'
Tip — Ensure that the teams are balanced in terms of skills and personalities to foster a positive group dynamic.
- 2
Problem Identification
15 minEach team discusses common problems encountered during conference calls. The facilitator encourages participants to share their personal experiences and note the main issues on a board or flipchart. 'What challenges do you often face during conference calls? Write them down and choose one to solve.'
Tip — Encourage the use of post-its so that each member can express their ideas freely and visually.
- 3
Solution Design
20 minTeams brainstorm to design an innovative solution to the chosen problem. The facilitator moves from group to group to ask stimulating questions and encourage creativity. 'How does your solution differ from existing solutions? What makes it innovative?'
Tip — Use creativity cards or mind mapping techniques to help generate new and varied ideas.
- 4
Pitch Preparation
15 minEach team prepares a 3-minute pitch to present their solution. The facilitator reminds them of the key elements of a good pitch: problem, solution, benefits, and call to action. 'Make sure your pitch is clear, concise, and convincing.'
Tip — Encourage teams to practice with each other or time their pitch to stay within the allotted time.
- 5
Pitch Presentations
20 minTeams successively present their pitch to the entire group. The facilitator ensures that time is respected and encourages other participants to ask constructive questions after each presentation. 'What questions do you have for this team? How could they improve their solution?'
Tip — Use a gong or bell to signal the end of the pitch time, to maintain a dynamic and fair pace.
- 6
Voting and Conclusion
10 minParticipants vote for the solution they find most innovative and feasible. The facilitator collects the votes and announces the winning team. 'Which solution do you think is the most promising for improving our conference calls?'
Tip — Use stickers or an online voting system to facilitate the voting process.
Variants
- Propose a specific theme for the problem to solve, such as reducing background noise or improving participant engagement.
- Limit the brainstorming time to 10 minutes to add a time constraint and stimulate quick creativity.
- Integrate a technological element by asking teams to include a digital component or mobile app in their solution.
