Fast Codev

Solve a problem together in record time!

Duration · 60 min
Participants · 4–10
Level · Beginner

Fast Codev is a collaborative workshop where a subject bearer presents a problem to a group. Contributors, within a limited time, propose creative and relevant solutions. This game promotes collective intelligence and strengthens team cohesion by allowing everyone to contribute their unique perspective to solve a concrete issue.

Walkthrough

  1. 1

    Introduction

    5 min

The facilitator welcomes the participants and briefly explains the workshop's flow. They clarify that the goal is to solve a problem using collective intelligence. The subject bearer is then invited to prepare to present their issue.

TipUse a simple example to illustrate the Fast Codev process; this will help participants understand better.

  2. 2

    Presentation of the Problem

    10 min

The subject bearer presents their problem in detail, specifying the context and stakes. Participants listen attentively and take notes if necessary. The facilitator ensures that the presentation is clear and concise.

TipEncourage the subject bearer to be as specific as possible to avoid misunderstandings.

  3. 3

    Clarification

    5 min

Participants ask questions to clarify any unclear points regarding the problem. The subject bearer answers the questions to ensure everyone understands the issue.

TipLimit the number of questions to maintain the workshop's pace and avoid straying from the main topic.

  4. 4

    Idea Generation

    15 min

Participants propose solution ideas. The facilitator encourages creativity and diversity in proposals. Each idea is noted on a board visible to all. Participants are invited to build on each other's ideas to enrich them.

TipUse sticky notes to jot down ideas; this makes it easier to reorganise and prioritise them later.

  5. 5

    Solution Selection

    10 min

The group discusses the proposed ideas and selects those that seem most relevant and feasible. The facilitator guides the group to reach a consensus. The subject bearer can provide their opinion on the solutions they find most suitable.

TipUse a simple voting system, such as a show of hands, to select the most popular ideas.

  6. 6

    Action Plan

    10 min

The group develops an action plan to implement the chosen solutions. Tasks are distributed among participants, and deadlines are set. The facilitator ensures that each participant knows what they need to do after the workshop.

TipEncourage the creation of a shared document where everyone can track the progress of actions.

Variants

  • Limit the idea generation time to 10 minutes to energise the workshop.
  • Add a feedback phase where each participant can express what they appreciated in others' ideas.
  • Conduct the activity in pairs before sharing with the larger group to encourage individual expression.
